JANE
Jane, a beautiful White Swiss Shepherd from Sunnyside Wynter Spirit Kennel Indigo, is out of the first litter of our oldest White Swiss Shepherd, Mojo. She was born on October 21, 2021, and bred by Jennifer Spencer of Wynter Spirit Kennels.
From the moment I held Jane, I knew she was destined for greatness. There was something special about her that felt like she was meant for bigger things. I felt like she was the perfect White Swiss Shepherd to contribute to the health of dogs in general and the breed specifically. So, I registered her with the Dog Aging Project, and she’s been a member ever since. I also have chosen her to be my foundation dog for the Neverending Dog Project. She checks all the boxes according to the NED Project criteria.
Jane is stunning with her beautiful black pigment and dark brown eyes. But what really makes her special is her sweet, quiet, funny, enthusiastic, and confident personality. She loves to snuggle and instantly connects with you. She also loves to run, jump, fetch a ball, and dock dive. She’s been Embark tested and is clear of all tested genetic diseases. Her coefficient of inbreeding is 20% (which is 7% below the average of the breed).Full Embark report. OFA results.
MURDOCK
Imagine a dog that’s a perfect blend of three amazing foundation breeds: White Shepherd, Alaskan Malamute, and Siberian Husky. What if this dog is already healthy tested and ready to breed? And what if the owner of this dog is open to the idea of crossing their dog with a White Swiss Shepherd? What if this dog lives on the East Coast, within a half-day drive?
These questions led me to the incredible wolf dog Murdock. This handsome boy is a mix of Malamute, Husky, German Shepherd, and a low-content (17%) wolf. He’s 7 years old and lives with his mom in South Carolina. According to his mom, he’s a friendly and adventurous boy who loves to explore.
He is EMBARK tested and clear on all tested genetic diseases. For his Embark results click HERE and for his OFA results click HERE.
Murdock's coefficient of inbreeding is only 3%!
ARCTIC LITTER: NAME & LOOKS
So, Jane and Murdoch are planning a date mid-May. Since pregnancy lasts around 63 days, we can expect our first outcross puppies mid-July. This first out cross generation litter, F1, is named North, Arctic, after the cold and white region. Interestingly, the Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky also come from colder lands. But it’s not just about the cold; wolf dogs and White Swiss Shepherds are also well-adapted to it. Lastly, we have a tradition of starting the first litter with the first letter of the alphabet i.e. 'A'.
What will the puppies look like you may ask? Well Murdock's owner and I asked Embark to perform a match making prediction for Jane and Murdock and this is the result:
Embark expect all of the puppies to have wolf-sable base coats. We expect ~50% of the puppies to possibly express moderate white spotting via the S locus. The puppies with white spotting may also express roaning, but we can't provide an accurate roan prediction because Murdock was not tested for it. We expect ~50% of the puppies to possibly express a melanistic mask.
Further Embark predicts the coefficient of inbreeding to be around the 3%
